The idea of Casa Moreno came about initially as a unique investment opportunity. The owner had always thought about opening a restaurant, and one day brought her family straight to the location in Covina after church, keys in hand: Casa Moreno was born. The restaurant had its struggles in the beginning, and in the true tradition of “family business,” all the owner’s family members pitched in to make it work: her husband started serving, one of her daughters came in to host after school, and her other daughter began managing the kitchen, while other relatives did the cooking.
It was at times chaotic and stressful, but ultimately, with the help and support of the community, Casa Moreno built up to the strong foundation it is today. Having honed in on the skills of success in their Covina location, Casa Moreno was able to replicate that model and open a second location in Claremont. Long term, the owners hope to one day franchise the business and expand into other communities similar to Covina.
When asked why they have chosen to stay in the restaurant business after 24 years, the answer was simple: the people. Not only has Casa Moreno had a strong impact on the people of Covina, but the people of Covina are the reason Casa Moreno happily keeps its doors open, its food tasty, and its drinks strong.
